- ‘The attic was dilapidated, being worst hit by strong wind and rough weather. A portion of the wall had crumbled creating a window – hole. The floor was not cleaned for long and stubbed with straw, twigs, perched leaves, and pigeon droppings.
6. When did Aditya heave a sigh of relief? Why?
- Aditva stood on the packing case and insinuated his hand into the ventilator pole and had a sigh of relief. A sparrow nest was disturbed and a part of which fell on the ground, Te found an antique inside a jeweller’s box which he was searching for.

1. Give a detailed account of all thoughts and questions in the narrator’s mind while accompanying Aditya from the tea shop to Sanyal’s house?
Aditya and the narrator met Sanyal at the tea shop who behaved differently. After Sanyal had left, the narrator found a sudden change in Aditya’s expression, There started his curiosity and he started to find the reason behind Aditya’s expression. But he asked Nagen uncle about ignoring the narrator.
After enquiry with Nagen uncle they both went to Aditya’’s ancestral house.In the whole house, the attic had probably been the worst hit by wind, Aditya searched there to get something and he heaved a sigh of relief when he had got what he had been looking for. Then arose the narrator’s next question.“When asked him what it was”, he said, “You’ll pet to know very soon”Their next place to be visited was the jeweller’s place to find out the weight of the article.And then their next stop was. the house of Jogesh Kabiraj.”Though I was a little curious, I didn’t ask Aditya anything.”It was so much curious for the narrator to visit Sanyal’s house. At Sanyal’s house, the narrator got the answers for his questions towards Aditya.
2. ‘Man does change with time’-What were | rious changes that came about in Aditya?
During childhood, Aditya seemed to be a spoilt brat of rich parents. Despite a good student he used to lie and was extremely jealous of Sasanka. Aditya didn’t defy Sanyal and told that he wished to give him one hundred fifty rupees, Sanyal laughed at his sudden generosity and enquired,

Aditva wanted to protect his stand saying he had changed with years. 3. Give a brief character sketch of Sasanka Sanyal.
Sasanka Sanyal was a peculiar man. He was neither eating nor drinking tea, instead was sitting with head bent over the tea – table as if day-dreaming, Sanyal was a mysterious person living with his friend Joseph Kabiraj. He had lost his wife and only son last year, He had sold all his lands to get his daughter married. He almost became a pauper and became somewhat crazy since then, due to mental stress.
He didn’t forget any memories of the past and possessed a high sell: esteem and respect.
